The water cycle
Science · Class 4 · Water, air and soil
Demo tutor
Hello! Today's demo lesson is The water cycle. Here is the big idea, one step at a time:
- The water on Earth keeps moving in a never-ending loop called the water cycle.
- The Sun heats water in seas, rivers and lakes. The water turns into an invisible gas called water vapour and rises into the air. This is evaporation. High up, the air is cool, so the vapour turns back into tiny drops that form clouds. This is condensation.
- When the drops in clouds join and become heavy, they fall as rain, hail or snow. This is precipitation. The water flows into rivers and seas, or soaks into the ground, and the cycle starts again.
