Hello! Today's demo lesson is The digestive system. Here is the big idea, one step at a time:
- Digestion is how the body breaks food down into tiny pieces it can use for energy and growth.
- It starts in the mouth: teeth chew the food and saliva begins to break it down. The food then goes down the food pipe (oesophagus) to the stomach, where juices churn and break it down further.
- In the small intestine, digested food passes into the blood and is carried around the body. Leftover water is taken in by the large intestine, and the waste leaves the body.
