Hello! Today's demo lesson is Writing a formal letter. Here is the big idea, one step at a time:
- A formal letter is written to someone in an official role, such as a principal, an editor or an officer. It is polite, clear and to the point.
- The usual layout is: sender's address, date, receiver's address, subject line, salutation (Sir/Madam or Respected Sir/Madam), body, closing (Yours faithfully or Yours sincerely), then your name.
- The body usually has three short paragraphs: why you are writing, the details, and what you would like to happen. Avoid slang, short forms like “don't”, and emojis.
